Predominantly Inattentive Type ADHD is characterized by significant difficulties with attention, focus, and organization, without prominent hyperactivity-impulsivity symptoms. This type was previously known as ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder).

Key Characteristics

To be diagnosed with predominantly inattentive ADHD, an individual must show:

  • Six or more symptoms of inattention (five for adults)
  • Fewer than six symptoms of hyperactivity-impulsivity
  • Symptoms present for at least 6 months
  • Symptoms present in multiple settings
